Kerala Beef Fry..

theOn a sunday morning  if you drive by a christian neighbourhood in kerala you are sure to know that there is some variant of beef on the stove. Nowadays it is cooked rarely ( may be in alternate weeks) becuase of all the negatives of red meat.

I cook beef atleast once in 2 - 3 months. We buy it from Frosty's in Indiranagar (usually fresh cut pieces can be bought on saturdays)

Below is my recipe :-
Meat - 1 Kg
Onion - 3 No:s
Garlic Pods - 4 No:s
Curry Leaf - 2 sprigs ( the more the better)
Soya sauce  - 1 tbsp
Mustard Seeds - 1 tbsp

Chilli Powder - 2 tbsp
Salt - 2 tbsp
Coriander Powder - 1 tbsp
Turmeric - 1 tbsp
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tbsp
Pepper Powder - 1 tbsp

Cut the meat into small slender pieces. Be careful to cut the fat out ( white part). Wash well.
Add all the spices and pressure cook without adding any water for about 15 - 20 minutes.

In a wok, heat oil and splutter the mustard seeds. Add the curry leaves followed by cut onions ( long thin cut), and sliced garlic. Add salt and pepper powder. Once the onions become transparent, add the cooked beef. Stir the beef and cook it without closing for about 15 - 20 mins. Pour soya saue, stir again and heat for another 5 mins.

Serve with rice, roti, parrota or bread
